This study tour focused on traditional fine arts and intangible cultural heritage experiences, offering immersive classes with a Chinese cultural flair. The morning session was centered on the hands-on experience of brush calligraphy. For the Russian participants, it was their first time using brush pens and rice paper. Under the guidance of professional instructors, they held their brushes and applied ink, sensing the unique rhythmic charm of Chinese characters and immersing themselves in the profound heritage of Chinese calligraphy culture.
At noon, all the participants went to the Phase I canteen on campus to enjoy a buffet lunch. The relaxed and casual dining atmosphere allowed Chinese and Russian youngsters to interact freely and share with one another, bringing them closer through informal conversations.
In the afternoon, the study tour continued with a hands-on session on creating ex-libris (bookplates). The students incorporated the traditional aesthetic elements they had learned during the day, using their creativity to design their own unique bookplates, preserving the special memories of this study tour in these miniature artworks.
This study tour, with fine arts as its medium, enabled Russian teenagers to personally engage in and deeply experience traditional Chinese art. It built a bridge for cultural communication and friendly exchanges between Chinese and Russian youths, allowing cross-border friendships to take root and grow through the practice of brush, ink, paper, inkstone, and hands-on artistic creation.
